Air Fryer Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Air fryer roasted sweet potatoes are an excellent side dish that can also serve as a light snack. These little bite-sized flavor nuggets are the perfect way to introduce your kids to the potato’s more healthy cousin! They are quick and easy to make and only require 1 ingredient plus some spices.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Air fryer roasted sweet potatoes
  • sweet potatoes – 1 tsp
  • butter – 2 tbsp, melted
  • cinnamon sugar – 1 tsp
  • garlic powder – 1/2 tsp
  • onion powder – 1/2 tsp
  • salt – pinch
  • pepper – pinch

Prep

You can knock out prep for this super simple snack in 5 minutes. Start by gathering your spices. Next, pour them all into a bowl and give them a good mix, then set them aside.

The sweet potato needs to be chopped into cubes. However, you can leave the skin on, just make sure you clean it really well. Don’t forget to pick off any of the roots that were left on. Once you start chopping, make sure your sweet potato bites are as evenly cut as possible. This helps all of the bites to be done at the same time, and nothing will be over or undercooked as a result.

Lastly, place your butter into a microwave-safe bowl and set it aside. You don’t need to melt it until your sweet potatoes are almost done.

How to Cook Sweet Potatoes in an Air Fryer

Time to cook. Grab your favorite air fryer tray. I like to line my trays with aluminum foil. It makes cleanup a lot easier. After that, spray the tray or foil with cooking spray so the sweet potatoes don’t stick. Place the potatoes on the tray making sure they are not stacked on top of one another.

The sweet potatoes need to cook at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. However, you might have to add or subtract five minutes depending on the size of your cut. I like smaller bites because they pack more flavor if you season them well.

After 20 minutes, give the sweet potatoes a check. If you can easily slide a fork into them, then they are done. Remove them from the air fryer and transfer them to a mixing bowl.

Now you can melt your butter. About 20-30 seconds in the microwave should do the trick. Once melted, pour over the top of your roasted sweet potatoes. Next up, generously season them with the spice mix you made during prep. Give the potatoes a good toss to spread the mix, and season again. Sample one to make sure they are properly seasoned, and you are done!
