Five Oaks Farm Kitchen Review

Five Oaks Farm Kitchen Review

One of the new restaurants we tried on our most recent trip to the Smoky Mountains was Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. My wife picked it out after seeing it recommended on social media. Here is my Five Oaks Farm Kitchen Review.

Background On Five Oaks Farm Kitchen

Five Oaks Farm Kitchen is located on the main strip in Sevierville, Tennessee. The establishment is owned by the KBS Restaurant Group, which also owns Crockett’s Breakfast Camp, the Greenbrier, and Fort Worth Steakhouse. Crockett’s is another one of our favorite spots in Gatlinburg, so we figured Five Oaks would be a hit as well.

Atmosphere and Decor

Right away, when walking up to the restaurant, there is no mistaking the farmhouse theme. It literally looks like a giant barn, albeit a very nice one. The landscaping is well done, there is a nice pond off to the side, and a miniature old school farmhouse truck sits in front of the restaurant.

When we arrived, we were told there would be a 15-minute wait for a table. Keeping with the farmhouse theme, there was a line of rocking chairs on the front porch area, perfect to help pass the time. With the pond in view on the side of the building and the mountains in the background, you couldn’t ask for better scenery.

The interior kept with the rustic farmhouse style, but it was very clean and very well done. The wooden picnic-style tables were a nice touch, but the backless benches were not a great decision in my opinion. I’m young enough that it didn’t bother me, but I could see this ruining the experience of someone with back trouble. Fortunately, they did have chairs at some tables, and they were available upon request, so no points off here.

All in all, I loved the vibes of this place. They accomplished what they were going for, and it is exactly what I was looking for on a Smoky Mountains trip. It very much reminded me of Crockett’s, which is a big win.

Menu and Food Review

We went to Five Oaks Farm Kitchen for lunch. They have a breakfast and lunch menu along with a supper menu. Breakfast is available from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch runs from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. While the breakfast looked tempting, we all opted for lunch plates.

I opted for the fried chicken. I had a disappointing experience at another restaurant with their fried chicken, so I was looking for redemption. Plus, the menu stated their chicken was breaded with flour and Ritz crackers, something I had never tried before and was interested in sampling. The dish came with a biscuit and choice of 1 side. I choose mac and cheese.

The fried chicken was delicious. The chicken was juicy, and the breading was well seasoned. The Ritz crackers added just enough crunch to the breading to let you know it was there without breaking your teeth. The only offering is bone-in chicken breast, so you get a good sized piece of chicken, but it is only 1 piece. It was definitely worth it for the price, and it was filling enough for lunch, but more chicken wouldn’t have hurt.

The mac and cheese was good, but not the best I’ve ever had. The biscuit was also done well. I would be interested in trying their turnip greens and green beans on future trips. Given the quality of what we ordered this time, I’m sure they’d be delicious.

My wife ordered the chicken and dumplings. This offering was listed under soups instead of entrees, but the portion size was not like ordering a small cup of soup. There was plenty enough there to fill you up for lunch. I tried a small sample, and immediately regretted not ordering them too! The dumplings were excellent, and for the price they were an absolute bargain.

The dumplings had a ton of shredded chicken and plenty of dumplings. The dish has a lot of juice, but that was no problem. I could have drank a gallon of it!

Five Oaks Farm Kitchen Prices

If you’ve ever been to the Gatlinberg, Pigeon Forge, or Sevierville, then you know things get pricy. However, Five Oaks Farm Kitchen was very reasonable. My fried chicken lunch plate was $14.99. My wife’s chicken and dumplings was only $8.99. The kids meals were also $8.99. These prices are comparable to what we pay at home, for a tourist area they are low.

There were some more expensive options, such as the pork ribs for $17.99. But most of the lunch plates were $14.99 or under. The same goes for breakfast. Their eggs benedict was only $12.99. The dinner plates were $20 and up.

Service

We received good service at Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. The host was polite and informative. Our server was attentive and kept our drinks full. Shewas quick to respond to all requests. And last but not least, we didn’t have to wait long once it was time to get the check!

Final Verdict On Five Oaks Farm Kitchen

I really enjoyed our visit to Five Oaks Farm Kitchen. It gave the exact rustic mountain feel I look for when visiting the Smoky Mountains. The food was delicious, and the service was good. It hit all the right notes. I will be back the next time we visit Tennessee, and I recommend it to anyone passing through Sevierville.
