We’ve already covered the main staple of big game dishes, now it’s time to go over 3 mouthwatering dips for your Super Bowl party! Pair any one of these 3 with some delicious and tender wings, and your Super Bowl Party is sure to be a hit.
This post is the second in a series of recipes and ideas for Super Bowl food. Don’t forget to check out my post on how to cook tender wings for your Super Bowl Party! And check back for more as I have other recipes planned to take your Super Bowl Party to the next level.
Buffalo Chicken Dip For Super Bowl
This dip is a fantastic replacement for chicken wings. If bone-in chicken is just not your thing, this buffalo chicken dip will satisfy your buffalo cravings. You can make it in a crock pot, which means the hard work is done hours before the game!
The ingredients include 2 blocks of cream cheese, 1 cup of ranch, 1 cup of your buffalo sauce of choice, 1 cup of shredded cheese of your choice, and 2 cups of shredded chicken.
You can tailor this recipe to your taste. If you don’t want too much spice, dial back the buffalo sauce to 3/4 cup or 1/2 cup. I like Sweet Baby Ray’s, but another excellent option is Frank’s buffalo sauce.
You can greatly alter the flavor depending on the type of shredded cheese you enter. Pepperjack will give you a spicy kick. For a more mild flavor, you could go with Monterrey or even mozzarella.
Last but not least we have the chicken. If you want to go simple, a rotisserie chicken will do the trick. Pick out your favorite option from the supermarket, shred it up, and add it to the dip. To make your own delicious shredded chicken, check out the method I use in my chicken and dumplings recipe!
To make it, simply mix your cream cheese, ranch, chicken, and buffalo sauce in the crock pot. Next, sprinkle your shredded cheese on top. And you are done! Some good optional steps include a little additional sauce on top and even green onions. Eat with some Fritos and Tostitos scoops and you will be in buffalo heaven. This is one of my favorite dips for the Super Bowl.
Spinach Artichoke Dip
Next up is a classic that I have only recently come to love. Spinach artichoke dip is a popular appetizer for any occasion, and the Super Bowl is no exception.
The ingredients include cream cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, spinach, garlic, and artichokes. The cream cheese is the big filler ingredient of the dish, so the amount needed will depend on how many you plan to feed. For more than 5 people, I’d go with at least 2 blocks.
Start by sauteing your spinach with some garlic. Once the spinach has wilted, add in your cream cheese, parmesan cheese, and artichokes. Stir until combined, and then transfer to a baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
There are various ways you can take this simple recipe and kick it up a notch. My favorite version adds lump crab meat. I’ve had this version at Felix’s Fish Camp served with flatbread, and let me tell you, it was spectacular!
Another way to spice the dish up is with cajun and/or creole seasoning. These spice mixes pair amazingly well with cheesy dishes. Try some with your alfredo the next time you have it!
Armadillo Dip
This last recipe is a personal favorite and a change of pace from the cheese-heavy dips mentioned above. If you google Armadillo dip you will probably find a million different backwoods recipes that are not related in any way shape or form. This one came from a family member and was modified a bit by myself.
The ingredients are a pound of ground beef, a can of refried beans, and a jar of your favorite salsa. You’ll also need some taco seasoning and shredded cheese. Optional ingredients include all of your favorite nacho toppings.
Start by browning your taco meat. Add in your taco seasoning and prepare the meat as you would ground beef taco meat. Once the meat is cooked, drain and toss into a mixing bowl. Add in the refried beans and salsa, then mix well. Next, transfer to a baking dish and layer the shredded cheese of your choice on top. Bake until the cheese is melted.
You can top this dip with things like diced jalapenos, sour cream, or even salad mix for a Mexican nacho salad. The dip is very versatile and is sure to spice up your Super Bowl party!
