After working with several different multi-cookers, we finally purchased the brand that started the craze of the past few years. Today I’ll be sharing my Instant Pot Due Plus review! We’ve had this unit for over 7 months now, so it’s seen enough action to give it a proper rating.
Instant Pot Specs
The Instant Pot Duo model we purchased has a 6-quart capacity. It boasts a dishwasher-safe cooking pot and lid. The pot is made of food-grade stainless steel and has a tri-ply bottom. It also features an anti-spin design that secures the pot in place.
The Instant Pot is 1000 watts using a traditional 110 volt outlet. It is approximately 13 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and 12 inches deep. The model weights 12.35 pounds.
The Duo has 9 in 1 functionality. With this model, you can slow cook, pressure cook, steam, and saute. It also works as a rice cooker, food warmer, sou vide, steamer, and sterilizer. The unit comes with accessories such as a stainless steel steam rack to help with this functionality.
With 15 one touch cooking programs, the Duo is very easy to use. As with most other brands, you can also customize your cooking time and temp to your liking.
Instant Pot Recipes
There is no shortage of Instant Pot recipes on the internet. I shared some of my favorite multi-cooker recipes in my Gowise USA Pressure Cooker review already. To recap, some of my favorites include pork steaks and rutebegas, chili, and chicken wings.
With fall just around the corner, my super simple chili recipe is perfect for testing out your new instant pot! If you are looking for an old school southern recipe, try my pork steaks and rutabagas.
And your eyes did not deceive you, I did mention chicken wings earlier! By pressure cooking the wings, the meat literally falls off the bone. I like to finish mine in the deep fryer to add some crispiness to them, but you can skip this step if you want to keep it healthier.
Instant Pot Review
The Instant Pot Duo Plus is the third multi-cooker I’ve worked closely with. The previous two, a Gowise and a Gourmia, were both good models. We used the Gowise for years before the lid was accidentally dropped off the counter and broken.
The Instant Pot has worked as advertised in the 7 months we’ve owned it. The build quality is good, and the functionality is exactly what we were looking for. The unit is durable and shows no signs of breaking down in the time we’ve had it.
While I think the other models I’ve worked with were sufficient, the Instant Pot is superior in quality. That is reflective in its price, which is higher than both the GoWise and the Gourmia. As of the writing of this post, the Instant Pot Duo Plus is going for around $130 on Amazon.
If you can afford, I recommend the Instant Pot over the other models I’ve used. However, if its not in your budget, either the Gowise or the Gourmia will get the job done. But if you want the best, the Instant Pot is the way to go.
