Copycat Chic-Fil-A Nuggets Recipe

Chic-Fil-A is probably my favorite fast-food restaurant. The food is always of high quality, and the service is excellent. The only downside about Chi-Fil-A is that they are closed on Sundays! I’ve got you covered though because today I am going to share with you my copycat Chic-Fil-A nuggets recipe.

Upfront, I need to mention that I have never worked at Chic-Fil-A nor do I know anyone that does. The recipe I am sharing today is one I have used my whole life. I simply recognized that it produced a product very similar to Chic-Fil-A’s famous nuggets. It is one of my favorite quick and easy meals when I want something delicious in a hurry.

Ingredients

Prep

These Chic-Fil-A nuggets are going to be deep-fried, so go ahead and crank your fryer up to 350. They can be pan-fried if you don’t have a deep fryer.

First things first, we need to cut the chicken breast. I didn’t list how many chicken breasts you will need because that is entirely dependent on you. One good-sized chicken breast can easily serve 2 or 3 people. If you are feeding 4 or more people, you are probably going to want at least 2 chicken breasts.

I usually cut my nuggets to a size between a quarter and a half-dollar coin. I like them smaller as you get a better bread crumb to chicken ratio, upping the flavor. Once you have the chicken cut to the size of your liking, set it aside.

Next, we need to set up our egg wash. Crack open your eggs into a bowl and whisk them into a homogeneous mixture. Make sure your mixing bowl is large enough to be able to dunk the nuggets into it easily.

Your breadcrumbs need to go into a container with a lid. You are going to want a lid that fits tightly, as we are going to be shaking the container vigorously. I suggest getting a bigger container so you can bread all of your chicken at once. If you don’t have a suitable container you can use a freezer bag.

Cooking

Ok, now it’s time to cook! The setup is simple. First, start by dunking your chicken into the egg wash. After that, strain as much of the egg wash off as you can. Finally, transfer the chicken to your bread crumbs container.

Next, put the lid on, and give it a good shake. Make sure all of the nuggets are completely covered. Also, check to make sure none are sticking together.

Now it’s time to start dropping the nuggets into the oil. Depending on the size you cut your chicken, they should only take about 3 or 4 minutes. They should be a light golden brown color.

A good rule of thumb on frying is that when something starts to float then it is almost done. If you are nervous that your chicken is undercooked, check it with a food thermometer. Or you can always take one out and break it in half to check.

Set up a plate with a paper towel on it to help strain the excess grease. Carefully place the nuggets onto the plate. Give the nuggets a generous sprinkle of salt. Allow them to cool for a moment and dig in!

This recipe also makes great chicken cutlets for Italian dishes. In addition, you can make some amazing chicken tenders with it. The two keys are the egg wash and the Progresso bread crumbs. The bread crumbs are a fantastic product I have used for years.

I hope you enjoy this copycat Chic-Fil-A nuggets recipe! As I said earlier, it is one of my favorite quick and easy meals, but it’s also one of my favorite easy dinner ideas for kids. If you are looking for dinner ideas with chicken, give this recipe a try!
